What is the Otaku Media Manager Group?

The Otaku Media Manager Group is a group of people whose goal is to make the best "Japanese media collection" manager/player. Our current efforts have produced "My Anime 2", a plugin for the HTPC software MediaPortal. This visually stunning plugin allows you to easily watch your anime while also providing information, sorting, and other useful features for anime fans. We are also working on a standalone manager that we think will be a must have for any otaku. We call it the Japanese Media Manager, or JMM for short.

My Anime 2

Is a plugin for the HTPC software MediaPortal. Its main focus is to allow users to manage and watch their anime collection. Some of the features are:

Watch your anime from inside MediaPortal (great for the couch or from a computer desk)
Maintains visual clues to episode status like watched / collected.
Syncs your list with the public anime database Anidb.net
Get detailed information on anime series, including ones not in your collection.
Get information on characters, eg, character in the anime, voice actors for those characters, other characters the voice actors have played.
Get information on related anime, including sequels , prequels, side stories, same universe, etc.
Find missing episodes or related anime quickly.
Directly download anime from its details page.
Quickly bounce between anime, related anime, characters info, stats info, missing episode info, upcoming anime, downloads, and your collection.
See statistics on your collection for individual anime or the entire collection

Japanese Media Manager

The Japanese Media Manager is a step up from My Anime 2. It is a "central core" based, multi-client media manager for Japanese Media. It runs a central program (the core) to store all the info about your collection, with many types of clients being able to connect to it. It can do everything my anime 2 can do and more. Some planned clients include a normal program for windows, a plugin for MediaPortal (to be called My Anime 3), a web interface, and possibly mobile clients for smartphones and tablets. Other clients could come later. This concept gives benefits including;

A single media collection that can be watched and managed from many different locations (manage from you pc, watch on your TV, schedule downloads when away from home)
Saves time. Only one collection to manage instead of many. (multiseat MediaPortal clients anyone?)
Different devices can be used; computers, home theater setups, phones, tablets, web browsers, etc.

This program is still under heavy development but you can grab some preview releases off the site.
